Maria de Jesus Sanchez

It is with great sadness that the family of María de Jesús Sánchez, 97, of El Paso, Texas, announces her peaceful passing on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, was born on November 20, 1926, in Tornillo, Texas, the eldest of 11 children born to Ignacio Peña and Inez Buzo Peña. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, José Julian Sánchez, daughter Amelia Sánchez, her parents Ignacio and Inez Peña, sisters Consuelo Vasquez and Alicia Peña, and brothers Isauro, David, Rodolfo and Guadalupe Peña. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Margarita (Leo) Betancourt, Gloria (Dane) Aguilar, Hortencia Gardon, Angela Duran, and sons Gabriel, José, and Gerardo Sánchez. Also left to cherish her memory are her beloved grandchildren, Annette, Manny, Adrian, Leo Jude, Corina, Julian, Michael, Eric, Omar, Joey, Javier, Brianna, and 16 great grandchildren. She's also survived by sisters Celia Peña, Zenaida Peña and Emma Laguna, brother Carlos (Lupe) Peña, numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.

A visitation for Maria de Jesus will be held Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A rosary will occur Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 7:00 PM, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A funeral mass will occur Monday, November 25, 2024 at 12:00 PM at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, 12200 Vista Del Sol Dr., El Paso, TX 79936. A graveside service will occur Monday, November 25, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas 79907.
