Maria Elena Chavez "Male", 77, passed away on January 2, 2017 surrounded by her family and close friends. She was the wife of Jose Manuel Chavez Sr. They shared 49 years of marriage together. Born in El Paso, Texas, she attended Bowie High School and graduated in 1957.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and she will be remembered for her unique personality, her strength, and her will to live. She has inspired everyone she knew.
Survived by her husband Jose Manuel Chavez Sr., children Jose Manuel Chavez Jr, Luis Roberto Chavez, and Maria Herlinda Chavez, grandchildren Cynthia Chavez, Luis Chavez Jr, Amanda Chavez, and Ashley Chavez, pet Chiquita, and close nephews Eduardo González, Marco Chavez and Enrique Chavez Jr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 5 to 9pm with a vigil at 7pm at Martin Funeral Home Central. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 at 12pm at Sacred Heart. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
