Our beloved mother and grandmother Maria Cano, 88, went peacefully, surrounded by family, to be with the Lord on April 5, 2024.
Maria reunites in eternity with her beloved husband, Cruz Cano, and their daughter, Patricia Elizabeth Cano, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her son Daniel Cano, and daughters Norma Rangel (Rafael) and Claudia Gutierrez (Mark). Maria's presence will be dearly missed by her 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Born on July 10, 1935, in Greeley, CO, Maria embraced life from her youth, finding joy in the spirited competition of basketball.
In the early 1950's, with God's will Maria and Cruz met, leading to a marriage of 62 years and the blessings of four children: Danny, Patsy, Norma, and Claudia. She was a devoted spouse and mother who put her faith in God and family first, cherishing moments spent with them over the years. Whether enjoying gatherings with family or dances with friends, she and Cruz were the first and last ones on and off the dance floor.
Maria was a devout member of the Catholic Church throughout her life. In her later years, her spiritual journey led her to sacred pilgrimages in Mexico City, The Holy Land, and The Vatican, where her belief in God flourished. Furthering her beliefs as a woman of strong faith, she instilled this faith in her children.
Her strong faith in God, would prove to be essential when she sustained a stroke in 2010, which left her with physical limitations, that led her to be in a wheelchair. Despite this challenge, she continued to embrace life with resilience, bringing joy and blessings to her family until her final days.
Maria's loving spirit and faith left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may have departed from us, her memory will forever be in our hearts. Maria Cano, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, your presence will be deeply missed, but your spirit will continue to inspire us all.
