She was born and raised in El Paso, graduated from Austin High School, and attended UT El Paso. She was a lifelong member of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
She worked at the historic JC Penney store in downtown El Paso until it closed in 2017.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elvira Alvarez. She leaves behind her cousin, Martha Alvarado, who was like a sister to her and a large extended family.
Maria was a very loving and caring person who will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her.
A visitation for Maria will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with a Vigil at 7:00 PM, at Funeraria Del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, Texas 79903. A mass will occur Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2709 Alabama St, El Paso, Texas 79930.
