Margaret C. Lucero, 84, of El Paso went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. She was born in Brackettville, TX on March 24, 1930 to the late Juanita and Rodolfo Cedillo. Margaret came to El Paso during WWII and attended Alta Vista Elementary School. She went on to graduate with honors from Austin High School in May 1949. She married her sweetheart, the late Robert B. Lucero on June 19, 1949 and together enjoyed 38 wonderful years. Margaret was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and also a former Eucharistic Minister for the Fort Bliss Catholic Community. While raising her children, she worked at the Memorial Park School: A Private Institution for Very Special Children. She served as President of the Coldwell School PTA and Representative to the El Paso City Council Parent Teacher Association, United Way Campaign Fund Raiser and as Den Mother for the Cub Scouts in the Boy Scouts of America. Following her husband’s passing, she served as the Director of Finance for the Girl Scouts of America, Rio Grande Council for nearly 20 years. Margaret was also a member of the American Business Women’s Association, Sun City Chapter. Always concerned for the children of our world, she became a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children (CASA). Margaret is survived by three sons, Robert H. Lucero of El Paso, O. Anthony (Tony) Lucero of San Diego, CA, and John M. Lucero of North Olmsted, OH. She is also survived by five loving grandchildren, Jessica, Ray, Jennifer, John Robert, and Ashley Lucero. Visitation will be Sunday, May 11, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central with Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, May 12, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Rite of Committal will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
