With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Manuela Ester Vasquez, who left this world on February 20, 2025, at the age of 78. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 53 years, Francisco Vasquez Sr., as well as her parents, Domingo and Eduarda Zavala, and her grandson, Jonathan M. Rojas.
She is lovingly remembered by her five children: Francisco Vasquez Jr., Elizabeth Vasquez, Melissa A. Steele (Charles), Laura C. Ferrell (Cliff), and Jennifer M. Vasquez. Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren: Chelsea A. Alderete (Raul), Nicole Alderete (David), Gabriel I. Alderete, Raymond J. Alderete (Alex), Nathaniel J. Vasquez, Areana R. Vasquez, Jovi A. Brito-Vasquez, Blaine E. Ferrell, Elias M. Rojas, and Francisco R. Rojas; and her seven great-grandchildren: Kylie O. Rivas, Sadie A. Rivas, Emma R. Rivas, Daeena L. Echavarria, Anthony N. M. Echavarria, Sofia E. Alderete, and Baby Alderete.
Manuela was a woman of deep devotion—to her faith, her family, and her work. She dedicated 15 years of service to Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso, TX, where her hard work and compassion touched countless lives. She took great pride in caring for others, a quality that extended far beyond her career and into every aspect of her life.
She will be remembered for the love and care she showed to everyone who entered her life. Her home was her sanctuary, always kept spotless, and filled with warmth and hospitality. She found joy in watching telenovelas, reading the Sunday newspaper, and most of all, being surrounded by her family. A devout Catholic, she prayed every night and never missed a Sunday at church, rising early to praise her Lord, Jesus Christ.
Her kindness was most evident in the way she selflessly cared for her loved ones, always ensuring
everyone was fed before she sat down to eat. She never missed a family gathering, staying late to make sure everyone knew how much they meant to her. She loved music, dancing, and celebrating life, especially when she was on the dance floor with her favorite partner—her husband.
Manuela’s love, dedication, and unwavering presence will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her
family takes comfort in knowing she is at peace, watching over them with the same love and care she gave in life.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Chukwu, Dr. Tan, Dr. Abraham Gonzalez, Texas Oncology Clinic, and the Rio Grande Area Agency on Aging for their compassionate care and support
