Manuel Lara Jr., 87 passed away on November 28, 2013. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas and a member of the Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by his wife Josefina B. Lara and sons: Louie, David and Nick Lara; his parents: Manuel and Isidra Lara, sisters: Amelia Ramirez, Maria Borrego and brother: Richard Lara. Manuel is survived by his daughters: Ann Hernandez (Pete), Christine Bueno (Mundo), daughter-in-law: Lupita Lara; sons: Tom B. Lara (Ruth), Peter Lara (Patti), 20 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, sisters: Lori Viescas, Nermey Aguilar, Romie Arvizu and Nonie Gomez. Mr. Lara was a WWII veteran and was awarded many medals: Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, World War II medal, Set Victory European-African-Middle Eastern American Campaign Medal and Combat Infantry Badge, Honorary Service Lapel Badge. Grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers and Brothers in law will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:45 am Thursday, December 5, 2013 at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow at 1:30 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
