2020 after a brief battle with cancer. Manny was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas, a member
of the Catholic church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a successful businessman for
many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Rafaela Beltran; wife
Aurora Beltran; siblings Mary Fernandez, Hector Beltran, Aurora Romo, Alicia Krebbs, and Delia
Espinoza. He is survived by daughter Yolanda Smeltzer, and sons Manuel Oscar, Jr., David
(Becky), Mark (Kandy), and Steve; and was “Papo” to his 12 grandchildren, 15 great
grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by brothers Moises, Rodolfo,
and Richard, sisters Magdalena Castaneda and Lucy Beltran, and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Manny was the eldest of 10 children and spent many of his young years working in the family
business, the International Key Shop. He attended El Paso High School, enlisted in the U.S.
Navy on his 17th birthday, and proudly served his country in WWII. Upon his return, he married
Aurora Beltran. He was a pilot in the civil air patrol, sold insurance, worked with his brothers at
El Paso Key Fitting and eventually opened Security Lock and Safe. Manny dearly loved his
family and friends and treasured his time with us. He was a lifelong learner, a counselor to
many, and a genuinely joyful human being who always had a smile. He had a deep and abiding
love of God and was so very grateful for the many blessings he was given. He was a beautiful
soul who will be missed by all who knew him.
In light of the ongoing pandemic and resulting social gathering restrictions in place at Hillcrest
Funeral Home and Ft. Bliss Cemetery, Manny’s funeral and burial will be private, but Hillcrest
will livestream his rosary. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date for all dear
family and friends. Thank you for your love, support, and prayers during these challenging
times. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local charity.
