Louie was born May 30, 1952 in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico to Aurora Perez Enriquez and raised by his mother, Aurora, and father, Porfirio Perez. He attended Jesuit High School in El Paso, Texas on a basketball scholarship and received a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Master of Business Administration from St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas. Louie served as President of the student body and was awarded Athlete of the Year after participating in several Intermural sports throughout his tenure at St. Edwards University. On August 5, 1978 he married his college sweetheart and love of his life, Connie Perez, in Juarez, Mexico. This year marked their 47th year of love and 40th year of marriage, a love in which Louie described as “meant to be”. Following his college graduation, Louie began working for his father in the produce business in Juarez, Mexico and later expanded his business to El Paso, Texas where he established Perezident Peppers. Louie was a hardworking, well-respected businessman, serving in the produce business for 41 years. He admired and cherished his employees, many of whom worked alongside him for over 30 years. Louie enjoyed playing and watching all sports, and shared his love of sports with his wife and children by taking them to sporting events including the US Open, French Open, Wimbledon, boxing matches, World Series and the NBA finals. He had a passion for cars, always having a sports car parked in his driveway. He loved to travel, and noted his time in Italy as his favorite vacation. Louie was the founder of a movie and music club that enabled him to share his passion for movies and music with friends. He had an extensive and impressive collection of sports memorabilia, vinyl records and sunglasses. Louie was kind to everyone around him - friends, family and strangers alike; generous, always taking care of his family and friends; charitable, never passing up the opportunity to help a person in need; Humble, asking his daughter, “is that a lot?” when she recounted his 70+ visitors during his stay in the hospital. He was loved.
