Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of 54 years, Gloria Padilla of the family home; two sons, Gil Padilla and wife Rachel from Las Cruces and David Padilla and wife Monica from Albuquerque; two daughters, Cynthia Padilla and Nicole Rede both from El Paso; sisters, Ramona Herrera (Roberto), Emilia Limon (Ernesto), Lily Maldonado (Pepe); brothers, Manny Padilla (Julie) and Joe Padilla (Rose). Other survivors include five grandsons; Michael Padilla and wife Amilia, Ivan Padilla, Ryan Padilla, Lucas Padilla, and Joseph Padilla and one great-granddaughter Marisa Padilla, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and god children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaudencio and Emilia Padilla.
After serving his country in the US Army, he was a construction foreman for 35 years. He officiated several sports including basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball. His hobbies were playing baseball and softball, as well as being a member of the Stateliners Car Club. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Luis was a life long member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Anthony, NM and served in multiple ministries. He was ordained as a deacon in 2008 and served at St. Anthony’s.
Viewing will be on Friday, November 8, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Rosary to follow at 7 PM.
Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 10:00 AM. All services will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on 224 Lincoln Ave., Anthony, NM 88021. Pallbearers: Bobby Herrera, Ernie Limon, Jaime Limon, DJ Singh, Michael Padilla, Ivan Padilla and Ryan Padilla. Honorary Pallbearers: Lucas Padilla and Joseph Padilla. Military honors organized by Frankie Herrera.
