Luis Castillo

While born in El Paso, Texas in 1950, Louie spent his youth in Harrah, Washington, right outside of the town of Yakima. He worked the fields with his parents, who were migrant farmworkers, and his seven siblings— his brothers, Guillermo Morales, Alfonso Castillo, Elijio Castillo, and his sisters, Rosario Lozano, Esther Jacquez, and Connie Castillo.

Louie moved back to El Paso for high school, first Bowie, then Bel Air, where he graduated Class of 1968. In high school, he fell in love with two things: The Rolling Stones & Irma Craver. It wasn’t until UTEP when she finally gave him a shot, and they spent many of those college years together, living and loving life while they studied and then, graduating with Bachelors Degrees, then later Masters Degrees— his in Business, hers in Social Work. Louie was the first in his family to hold a college degree. He & Irma married in 1979.

Louie became an entrepreneur and started several small businesses– first, a restaurant, then a nightclub. In 1987, the same year his daughter Andrea was born, he started his most successful venture, a Bookkeeping, Accounting, and Tax Preparation Service. He employed and managed several employees over the years, and he helped numerous clients with their financial planning when he grew his business to include Retirement and Investment services. To further his career, Louie graduated from Webster University with his MBA in 2004.

As a businessman, Louie was known for his love of the El Paso community and his firm belief in affordable pricing. He always treated his clients, who became close friends, like family. Louie “retired” in 2022 although he was still preparing taxes and managing financial planning up until his death.

Louie had a joyful and bright nature. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He had a special bond with his friends and each member of his family, who he adored, often sharing funny videos, memes, and messages. One of his favorite activities was jamming out to rock music while grilling; he was a grill and margarita-making master. He also loved traveling with his wife. Together, they traveled the United States and Europe, going to concerts, visiting family, going on cruises, etc.

He belonged to a few organizations throughout the El Paso community, like the El Paso Del Norte Lion’s Club and the Bel Air Alumni breakfast group.

Louie is survived by his wife, Irma Craver-Castillo, his daughter, Andrea Lora Castillo, his son-in-law, Daniel Paul Miskei, his sisters, Rosario Lozano and Connie Castillo, and his several nieces and nephews, including Isabel Castillo, Adrian Craver- Caballero, Laura & Norma Jacquez, Katharine Castillo, Anita Pierce, Patricia Lozano, and many others.

Louie Castillo was an irreplaceable soul, and his memory will be treasured by every person who knew and loved him. He was an amazing man, husband, father, brother, and uncle.

Visitation for Luis will be held Monday, November 20, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a vigil service on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass will occur Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St Joseph Catholic Church, 3729 Hueco Ave, El Paso, Texas 79903.
