

Louise Knaut, age 80, beloved wife and mother, passed away at home in Annapolis, Maryland on June 15th. Louise was born in El Paso, Texas, the daughter of Louis and Mary Strain. She attended El Paso High School and Texas Western College where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.
After graduation, Louise taught high school History and English. In 1957, Louise married Donald Knaut, also a graduate of El Paso High, while he was a medical student in Galveston, Texas. They started their family and after multiple moves through medical residency and brief military service, they settled in El Paso. During their years in El Paso, Louise enjoyed travelling, working at Sun Travel for several years, and was an avid reader. After retirement, they moved to a lovely home in the smoky mountain community of Waynesville, North Carolina where they lived for 10 years, actively involved in the community and church. Recently they moved to Annapolis, Maryland to be closer to family.
Louise is survived by her husband, Donald; daughters Karen and Diane; sons Steve and Andy; brother Bill; sister Helen; daughter-in-law Carolyn; grandchildren Gretchen and Kyle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside ceremony will be held at Memory Gardens of the Valley, Santa Teresa, New Mexico on Monday, June 29th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Louise to the School for Special Children (www.stjohnofgod.org).
