Louie was born on February 14, 1956, in Minneapolis to Joan Kathrine Rochel and Glenn Francis Grau. As a young man, he played varsity hockey and enjoyed skating the frozen winter ponds of St. Paul, Minnesota. After 3 years of service to the U.S. Army, Louie began a career in pawn that spanned the decades of his life. He served in leadership roles and taught the business to many people. His dedication to jewelry, precious metals and the pawn market were only surpassed by his passion for speed. His career in motorsports is highlighted by numerous wins and a track championship at the legendary Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway during his time as crew chief for NASCAR driver Chad Chaffin. Louie also shared his mechanical knowledge at home through various garage projects.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Brenda Frideley Grau of Kennesaw, GA; his three children, Paul Grau of El Paso, TX, Laura Grau of Kennesaw, GA, Thomas (Marnie) Grau and two grandchildren Daniel and Vivianne of Franklin, TN. Louie is also survived by his siblings; Dean (Kerry Scott) Grau of St. Paul MN, Sarah Grau (Vince Long) of Billings, MT, Mary (Paul) Carlson of McAllister, MT, Sister-in-Law Maureen Grau of St. Paul, MN, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
