Lorenzo Ornelas

Lorenzo Ornelas Castillo passed away on February 8, 2022, at the age of 96 in El Paso, Texas. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a gentle attitude and smile. Our father is our hero and stayed strong until the end.

Our father was from Estancia De Animas Zacatecas, Mexico where he grew up. He was born August 10th, 1925, into a humble family. His mother Petra Castillo, and father Candelario Ornelas had six children named Jesus, Maria, Lorenzo, Christina, Dionisio and Samuel. Our father left his hometown in the 1950’s to seek a better life to support his mother and help his siblings. He found that in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico.

It was in Ciudad Juarez Mexico where he encountered his future wife Maria Abigail Sustaita for the first time. They fell in love and married about 1 year later. After this he began living his dream of become a business owner. With a very humble heart he supported his family making and selling the best barbacoa in the region. He was also very proud of making barbacoa for the Municipal President of Ciudad Juarez, Teofilo Borunda.

Our parents had six children named Martha, Raul, Leticia, Noe, Francisco, and Luis. They also have Seventeen grandchildren, and Twenty-Three great grandchildren.

He moved to Chicago in 1987 and lived there with his sons until 2017 then moved to El Paso Texas. Our father was a humble man who believed in God, always prayed at bedtime and, before getting out of bed every morning and, he always said, “Thank You for helping me and God Bless You” Until the end he had a giving and an honorable heart, especially for his children.

He was very proud of his grandson Eric Ornelas, a barber, who took the time to travel from Chicago to El Paso to cut his hair and trim his mustache. This made our father happy. It was one of the highlights of his life in his older years. He also loved to play Dominos, and according to him, was the best because he always won, even if he didn’t. He loved anything that was sweet, but chocolate was his favorite.

He also had a great relationship with Oscar Marestein, his grandson, his sons, daughters, and all of his grandchildren, and great grandchildren when he was able to see them.

Papa, we will miss you always and, you will always be alive in our hearts.

Lorenzo Ornelas Castillo fallecio el 8 de Febrero, 2022, a la edad de 96 años en El Paso, Texas. El enfrento varios problemas medicos en los ultimos años y aun asi tenia una sonrisa para todos. Nuestro Padre fue nuestro heroe y fue siempre muy fuerte hasta el final.

Nuestro padre nacio en Estancia De Animas Zacateas, Mexico donde crecio. El nacio el 10 de Augusto de 1925 en una famiia humilde. Su mama Petra Castillo, y su papa Candelario Ornelias procrearon 6 hijos cuales nombres son Jesus, Maria, Lorenzo, Cristina, Dionicio y Samuel. Nuestro padre dejo su pueblo en los 1950’s buscando mejor vida para proveer para su mama y familia. El encontro en Ciudad Juarez Chihuahua un major future.

Fue en Ciudad Juarez Chihuahua donde encontro a su futura esposa Maria Abigail Sustaita. Ellos se enamoradon y se casaron un año despues. El empezo a vivir el sueno de su vida de ser dueneo de su propio negocio. Con un corazon muy humilde el mantuvo a su familia haciendo y vendieno la mejor barbacoa de Ciudad Juarez. El estuvo muy orgulloso de preparer la barbacoa para el entonces Presidente Municipal de Ciudad Juarez Teofilo Borunda.

Nuestros padres procreadon 6 hijos nombrados Martha, Raul, Leticia, Noe, Francisco y Luis y tambien le sobreviven 17 nietos y 23 bisnietos.

El se movio a Chicago en 1987 y vivio con sus hijos hasta 2017 despues se movio para El Paso Texas. Nuestro padre fue un excellente padre y hombre muy humilde. El siempre oraba a la hora de acostarse y levantarse. El siempre fue muy agradecido y el decia gracias por ayudarme y Dios les Bendiga. Hasta el final el tuvo un corazon muy honorable, espcialmente con sus hijos.

El estaba muy orgulloso de su nieto Eric Ornelas quien su profesion es barbero quien tomaba tiempo de ves en cuando de venir de Chicago a cortarle el pelo y el su vigote a su abuelito. Esto hacia muy feliz a su abuelito. Su juego preferido era jugar domino. Y de acuerdo a el los ultimos dos años el siempre ganaba. Sus golosinas preferidas eran platanos, dulces y chocolates.

Nuestro padre tambien estaba muy agradecido con Oscar Marestein su nieto quien siempre lo ayudo. El quizo mucho a todos sus hijos, nietos y visnietos.

Papa lo extrañaremos pero siempre vivira en nuestros corazones.
