Leonarda Chavez

Leonarda G. Chavez attended school until the 3rd grade in Mexico. She was an intelligent woman whom as a single mother raised 11 successful children. She was predeceased by her infant daughter Gloria Chavez and her husband Ismael Mora Chavez who passed away at age 59.

She was married to Ismael Mora Chavez from Parral Chihuahua on November 22nd, 1952. Leonarda Chavez worked for Canutillo ISD over ten years in the cafeteria. She also worked several years in a nursing home facility in El Paso.

She was a member of Templo Piedra Angular in Midland, Texas for over 25 years. She also attended Mision del Valle in Canutillo her entire lifetime.

She was a compassionate, loving and nurturing individual to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. No one was ever a stranger to her home and heart. She was a faithful Dallas Cowboy fan.

She was survived by her children: Jose Luis Chavez, David Chavez, Rosa Maria Rodriguez, Leonor Pacheco, Josefina Salazar, Ana Maria Hernandez, Cirilo Chavez, Cirila Chavez, Ismael Chavez and Irma Ochoa. Grandchildren: Luis Gadiel Chavez, Lizzette Saenz, Minerva Salinas, David Chavez Jr., Jesse Chavez, Hiram DelaO, Nicole Rodriguez, Alfredo Pacheco, Irene Torres, Aracely Pacheco, Josue Pacheco, Jonathan Salazar, Michelle Salazar, Crystal Salazar, Victor Hernandez Jr., Sarah Machuca, Rebeka Chavez Riso, Ismael Chavez Mora, Felipe Mijarez, Moneat Bingham, Adam Chavez, Celina Chavez, Ruby Irma Ochoa, Ruth Esmeralda Ochoa; Great Grandchildren: Priscilla A. Saenz, Xavier I. Salinas, Galilee Salinas, David Aaron Chavez, Savannah Chavez, Judah Chavez, Christian A. DelaO, Caroline A. Brothers and Sisters: Predeceased brothers: Salvador Gomez, Manuel Gomez, Lazaro Gomez, Matias Gomez, Jose Gomez, Humberto Gomez. Survived by her last remaining brother Pedro Gomez. Predeceased sisters: Maria Molinar, Teresa Solis, Guadalupe Gomez and Maria de los Angeles Gomez.

Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. with prayer service at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at Hillcrest Funeral Home-West. A second visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 10-11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-West with graveside service immediately following at Memorial Pines Cemetery in Sunland Park, NM.
