Lalo was born on July 14,1948. He spent much of his teenage years traveling to California to work, while he lived in El Paso all his life. Later, he served his country in the Vietnam War as a Tank Commander. He eventually would retire from a career as a copper weigher and train engineer.
Throughout his life Lalo gained many friends, striking up conversations with anyone he met. He was a member of the Street Memories Car Club and constantly worked to help those in need through his fundraising and active volunteerism.
Lalo will be remembered for his immediate likeability, his smile, his need to leave anyplace he visited better than he found it, and for the laughter that followed him everywhere.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma “Tammy” Rivera, seven children, twelve grandchildren, two great granddaughters, two sisters, two brothers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you please donate to your favorite charity, or the Rio Grande Cancer Foundation of El Paso (PATS program).
Memorial services will be held on Monday, May 6 visitation from 5pm.-9pm. with Prayer service at 7pm. at Martin Funeral Home on 1460 George Dieter Dr.Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 11:30 am at St. Mark’s Catholic Church with internment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 1 pm.
