She was preceded in death by her father, former Sheriff of El Paso County, W.O. “Jimmy” Hicks; mother, Alberta Celum Hicks Konze; brother, Jimmy Hicks aka Scott Douglas and sister, Dana Hicks Kerr.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60+ years, John R. Biros, daughter, Kathy Hubert (John), Jack Biros (Sue); grandchildren Autumn Alexander (Graham), Travis Hubert (Serina), Jason Biros (Sue), Lauren Alexander (Tim), Michael Biros (Claudia) and Careese Nguyen (Cuong), and great grandchildren Jonathan, Bauer, Audrey and Eve Hubert and Joaquin Biros.
Kay graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in 1972 receiving the Florence Nightingale award and worked in the hospital setting until her retirement receiving many awards throughout her nursing career.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. James Gibson, Dr. Steven Glusman, and Dr. Howard Pease, along with Odyssey Health Care Hospice for their excellent care. Also thanks to Joan and Royce Cleveland for always remembering Kay. A very special thanks to Patsy Solis for her tireless efforts, patience and loving care she provided in the daily care for our mother during this difficult time.
The Biros family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, September 6, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Martin East. Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 10:00 am at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the Biros Family asks that donations be made to Odyssey Health Care Hospice, The Parkinson’s Foundation, or Silver Spring Foster Home, 9512 Blue Wing El Paso, Texas 79924.
