Juan Fernandez, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on April 26, 2017 in El Paso, Texas. He was born in Morley, Colorado on June 9, 1930. He is survived by his wife Celia of 64 years, his children Joseph (Pamela), Juan (Rachel), Julia Velasquez (Vicente), Mario, Cecilia Medina (Eduardo), David (deceased), Ana Lily Ponce (Luis) and Louis; 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad where he was nicknamed "Grillo" (cricket) because he was always whistling. He also worked for the City of El Paso. He received several commendation letters over the years from different mayors and elected officials. He will be missed and lives forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be Monday, May 1, 2017 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with vigil at 7:00pm, Martin Funeral Home Central , 3839 Montana Avenue. Funeral services will Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 10:00am, Guardian Angel Catholic Church. Followed by the Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
