Mr. Juan Manuel "Pelon" Favela, son of the late Jose and Francisca Favela, was born February 1, 1941, in El Paso, TX. He attended Franklin Elementary and El Paso Technical High School. He would also earn his certification in printing.
He joined the Newspaper Printing Corp. (El Paso Times) on September 15, 1975, and spent his career working in the print shop, which produced internal printing jobs for the company as well as print work for the advertisers. He retired on May 4, 2007, after 31 years of service.
Juan is survived by his wife, Aurora “Terry” Favela. They were united in holy matrimony in August of 1976. Their union was blessed with three children.
Mr. Favela was an avid Dallas Cowboys and UTEP Miner fan. However, his greatest love was attending the different activities of his nine grandchildren. Whether it was a cheerleading competition, volleyball game, orchestra concert, jujitsu match, or football game, he would always be there no matter the time or distance. His happiness also included stocking his refrigerator with every different ice cream that his grandchildren liked.
His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: son Ronald Favela, daughter-in-law Ana, son Juan Jr, daughter-in-law Windy, and daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Isaac; nine grandchildren: Brandon, Jonathan, Yuliana, Alianna, Ivan, Robert, Kayla, Jeremy, and Isaac.
Juan was also preceded in death by his siblings Antonio Favela, Amelia Caballero, Rosa Waters, and Lorenzo Favela.
Along with his wife, children, and grandchildren, he is also survived by his sister Maria Luz Tarin, his sister Carmen Perez, his brother Francisco Favela, his brother Ben Favela, his sister Elvia Martinez, his sister Veronica Santos, his sister Margarita Favela, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Rosary for Juan will be held Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 7:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Avenue.
