Jovita R Padilla

Jovita Reveles Padilla passed away at 91 years old on Monday, August 14, 2023, in Socorro, Texas. Jovita was born in Quitaque, Texas to Maria and Tomas Reveles. She previously worked in picking cotton, worked in a restaurant, and at Farah Incorporated before she chose to be a devoted and proud homemaker. She took an important role in the advocation of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. She along with others assisted to help build the Catholic Church to help make the community of what was “Moon City” become a strong community. Jovita was a caring person to all. She was always concerned with others and was

ready to lend a helping hand no matter what it was.

Jovita was predeceased by her husband of 64 loving years, Amado D. Padilla and her sons, Fabian J. Padilla, Sr., and Paul Padilla. She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Ann, daughters-in-law Diane Padilla and Yoly Padilla, 4 grandchildren: Fabian J. Padilla, Jr. (wife Roberta Mae Gabaldon), Samantha Nicole Padilla (husband James Edward Green), Thomas Padilla, and Miranda Leonor Padilla (husband Francisco Apolinar Reyes), and 2 great-grandchildren, Fabian Andres Padilla, and Charlotte Olivia Green. She has one surviving sister, Mary D. Gonzalez, and one surviving brother, Alejandro Reveles. Jovita was also predeceased by her parents Maria and Tomas Reveles, her brothers Pomposo Reveles, Matias Reveles, Epifanio (Cano) Reveles, and Feliciano (Felix) Reveles, and her sisters Nicacia Reveles, Maria F. Reveles, Angelica Hernandez, Victoria Reveles, Julia Guthrie, and Pauline Jimenez.

Jovita’s visitation service will be on Monday, August 21 at Martin Funeral Home East from 4 – 8 pm with the rosary beginning at 6 pm. The mass will be on Tuesday, August 22 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 12:00 noon. Interment will be at Fort Bliss Cemetery at 1:30 pm.

The pallbearers are Fabian J. Padilla, Jr., Thomas Padilla, Albert Padilla, Andrew Reveles, Eddie Ramirez, and George Lopez. Memorial donation in lieu of flowers may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
