Josefina Mier Molina (Pina), 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, June 30, 2017. She was born in Durango, Mexico and was brought to the USA when she was 6 months old. She was raised in Smeltertown, Texas and attended Corschene School where she graduated Salutatorian. In her pre-teens, under the direction of Msg. Lourdes Costa, she, and other parishioners, helped in making the pathway that would eventually lead many to Mount Cristo Rey. She was a devout Catholic with a special devotion to our Lady of Lourdes. She instilled her religious values to all her children. She owned a grocery store in Smeltertown and she also sold Fireworks for the 4th of July until 1997. She was the owner of Vista Del Valle Hall along with her husband. She was preceded in death by her parents Adolfo and Dolores Mier, her four brothers and three sisters. She was also preceded by Fred Molina her husband of 61 years, her daughter Maria de Lourdes Duenes and her two beloved grandsons, Billy Joe Sarabia and Manny Soto. She is survived by her daughters Mary Helen Vazquez, Billie Sarabia (Jose), Estela Soto, Ana Gonzalez (Frank) and her sons Manny Molina and the Rev. Joe Molina. She’s also survived by 6 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Pallbearers: Linda Saavedra, Elizabeth Giammarese, Jennifer Gonzalez, Julie Gonzalez, Jackee Knotts, Jannette Gonzalez, Pamela Pavia, Christina Colmenero, and Maxyne Sarabia.
Visitation on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home(west) followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at San Francisco of Assisi Catholic Church, 5750 Doniphan Dr. Mass: Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at San Francisco of Assisi Catholic church. Internment: Memory Gardens of the Valley.
