Josefina M. Garcia

mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Josefina Mesa Garcia on August 30, 2024 at the age of 90,

in El Paso, Texas, with loved ones by her side.

Josefina was a native El Pasoan born to Guadalupe Mesa and Jose Aguilar on November 14, 1933.

She attended Bowie High School and then established a career as a machine operator at the Farah Manufacturing Clothing Factory. She devoted many years at the factory, then left to spend the remaining years of her work life as a food service worker at Del Valle High School. It was during this time she met and married her second husband Rodolfo Garcia on June 14, 1980. Throughout her life, Josefina’s most meaningful joys were her love for family and friends, her joy of singing mariachi and Mexican rancheras, and dancing the jitterbug with her husband. Her unique laugh was infectious, and her smile radiated with merriment, endearing her to those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her husband Rodolfo Garcia, her sons Jesus Eduardo Chaparro (Irene), Robert Chaparro (Elsa), son-in-law Jose Ayala (Rosa +) and stepdaughters, Susie Nicolas (George), Rosemary Vargas (Robert), her grandchildren; Angelo Chaparro, Michelle Ayala Lewis (John), Chris Ayala (Amber), Jessica Ayala Peters (Mike), Valerie Chaparro Saenz, Erik Chaparro,

Vanessa Chaparro Almanza (Carlos), numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Josefina is preceded in death by her mother Guadalupe Mesa, her sister Lucia Manuela Rodriguez,

her son Ramon Chaparro, and her daughter Rosa María Ayala.

Viewing will be held on Monday, September 9th at 5:00 – 9:00 pm, at Hillcrest Funeral Home,

1060 N Carolina Dr, El Paso, TX. Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 10th at 10:00 am, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church,

9205 North Loop Dr, El Paso, TX. Burial will follow at 11:30 am, at Evergreen Cemetery,

12400 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX. Arrangements are by Hillcrest Funeral Home.
