Jose “Pepe” Salazar, Jr., 79, a lifelong resident of El Paso passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015. Jose was born June 9, 1935, to Jose and Guadalupe (Herrera) Salazar. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Fernando and sister Eva. Jose is survived by his wife, Libby (Saenz) Salazar and his 9 children: Robert, Ruben (Catalina), Sylvia (Martin) Gonzalez, Richard (Maria), Ronald (Leticia) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Sandra (Ricardo) Duran of Gilbert, Arizona, Debbie (Abel) Galaviz of Stafford, Virginia, Laura (Jose) Gongora of West Branch, Iowa, and Roxanne Lopez. He was a wonderful grandfather to his 26 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and will be missed dearly. He is also survived by his brother Ruben Salazar. Pepe, a retired truck driver was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, and was known by his fellow truck drivers as “Chino”. Pepe was a family man who enjoyed spending his free time at the racetrack. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with Vigil at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service is Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Chapel.
