Jose “Yogi” Rubio, son of the late Jesus Rubio Manriquez and Mrs. Estela A. Rubio, was born on July 8, 1948 in El Paso, TX. He attended and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1966 and was proud to be part of the Silver Foxes family.
Joe was employed with the United States Postal Service for 40 years from which he proudly retired.
He was united in holy matrimony to his high school sweetheart, Esther, and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage. Their union was blessed with four children.
Joe loved giving back to his community and, while he was healthy, was an active member of the Alta Vista Optimist club for 20 plus years.
After enduring various health issues over the last few years, he quietly departed this life and was made whole by our dear Lord on August 5, 2019. He is preceded in death by his twin sons.
Joe will be greatly missed but his love of laughter, food, tequila, family, friends, and fellowship will forever be cherished and celebrated in the lives of his beloved wife, Esther, children: Maria “Nena” Shepherd and husband Nathan of Albuquerque, NM, Jose “Joey” Rubio and wife Kathleen of El Paso, TX; grand-children: Jorian Rubio, Jovani Rubio, Karys Rubio, and Noah Shepherd; sisters Mary Adame and husband George of El Paso, TX, Dorothy Rubio of Phoenix, AZ; and sisters-in-law Irma Montelongo and husband Alex of El Paso, TX and Irene Campuzano and husband Raymundo of Lakewood, CO. Plus, a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
