Heaven gained an angel and a Purple Heart Honoree. Jose Luis Navarrette died February 3, 2015. He proudly served his country and was wounded the 1st time on July 15, 1944 at 19 years old and the 2nd time on October 9, 1944 at 20 years. old. He died at Kindred Wound Care Hospital after suffering 4 years with Dementia and 15 years with Diabetes. Thanks to Kindred Hospital doctors and staff especially Stephanie, his 3 Foster Cares, Southern Home Health Services and his personal providers & caregivers: Nicole, Laura, Dora, Monica, Terre, Erika, Susana, Robert Maldonado, Irma, Mariza and Maria Martinez, Dr. Sudakar of Veteran’s administration and Beaumont Hospital. He studied drawing at Art School, worked for the White House, U.S. Postal Service for 36 years and Burns Security for 16 years. He is preceded in death by his wife: Olga Lopez Navarrette and survived by his children: Joe L. (Irma) Navarrette, Eddie D. (Irene) Navarrette and Virginia O. Navarrette (Juan); 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters: Carmen Beattie (Alberto), Catalina R. Rodriguez (Gregorio), & Ester R. Abelar (Tony); and brother: Enrique Ramirez Jurado (Chita). Visitation will be from 5:00 -9:00 pm Monday, February 9, at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 9:15 am Tuesday, February 10, at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
