It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jose "Joe" Carrasco, affectionately known as Joe Cowboy. Joe passed away on July 19, 2024 in his hometown of El Paso, TX. He was born to Manuela Garcia and Antonio Carrasco on September 24, 1954, in the same city he would call home for the entirety of his life.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents Manuela and Antonio Carrasco. He is survived by his devoted life partner Debbie Carrasco, siblings Antonio Carrasco, Irma Gonzales (Ramon), Norma Allen (Mike), David Carrasco (Blanca), Oscar Carrasco (Irma), Olga Lange (Randall), Rebecca Aguilar (Sergio), half-sisters Rosa Emma Fierro, Elsie Minor & Susie Salinas (Chuy), his uncle Jose Garcia, 19 nephews and nieces and seven godchildren.
Joe's role as an uncle to 19 nephews and nieces as well as a godfather to seven godchildren was one of his greatest joys. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, everyone's favorite storyteller and the life of the party; always ready to tell a joke.
Joe was a graduate of Canutillo High School, class of 1973, and went on to pursue his passion for mechanical repair at ACR Training School in dallas, where he earned his certificate in refrigeration in 1973. His career as a repairman was marked by his ability to troubleshoot and repair all appliances. Joe also shared his knowledge and love for repair by training many coworkers at Sears where he worked for 30 years.
Serving as pallbearers are his nephews Antonio Carrasco III, Frank Gonzalez, David Carrasco Jr., Oscar Carrasco Jr., Michael Carrasco, Cameron Rodriguez, and nieces Nora Rodriguez and Michelle Carrasco.
Joe's presence will be profoundly missed, but his memory will continue to be a beacon of joy and laughter for all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
