Jose “Chapo” Barraza Jr. 82, passed away on July 22, 2012. He was born January 26, 1930 in El Paso, Texas. Preceded in death by his wife Guadalupe, parents Jose and Servina, siblings Rebecca, Maria Luisa, Francisco and son Jose Antonio Barraza. “Chapo” is survived by wife Carmen, sons Alfredo (Sandra), Albert (Laura), and daughters Alma Rosa and Maria Luisa (Willie). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Jose Esqueda, brother Valentin (Bertha), sister Irene (Arturo) and numerous nephews and nieces. Chapo was born in El Segundo Barrio and attended Bowie High School. He left school to join the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in Okinawa, Japan at the tail end of WWII. He was called back into service during the Korean War and was sent to Worms, Germany with the Seventh Army. He worked over 30 years in Civil Service at Fort Bliss. Chapo enjoyed his retirement and lived for his daily walks. He did everything possible for his children, and left an everlasting imprint in our hearts and lives. We await our reunion in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 5pm to 9pm at Martin Central, 3839 Montana Ave with recitation of the rosary at 7pm. Funeral mass will be Friday, July 27, 2012 at 12:45PM at St. Josephs Catholic Church with interment to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery.
