Johnnie Mae Childress

Johnnie Mae Childress, born July 8, 1929 in Gilmore, TX to John Henry and Emma Dixon. In 1948 she married the love of her life her soulmate Mayo H. Childress. They moved to El Paso, TX where they had six children all girls. She worked for the City of El Paso-Airport for 30 years while also working as a caregiver at R.N. Nursing Home for 20 years.

On December 8th she was called home. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Doris Fisher & husband Charles, Linda Barnes, Janice Williams & husband Lawrence, Glenda Childress, Jacqueline Finnen & husband James. Grand Children – Agatha Mayfield, Marcus Johnson, Roxane Williams, Mathew Johnson, Jessica Braxton, Nanette Johnson, Michael Rhodes Johnson, Monica Fisher, Clarissa Fisher, Tanisha Childress, LaVon Williams, LaDon Williams, LaShon Williams, LaRon Williams, LaCarl Childress, Falisha Childress and numerous great grand-children and friends.

Preceded in death by her Husband Mayo Childress, Daughter Emma Joyce Hooker and her 5 sisters.

You got your wings, I know they are the most beautiful wings in heaven. Rest in paradise my dear Mom, Granny, Big Mama.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00pm on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be at 11:30 am on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Hillcrest Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
