Mr. Molina was born on March 21, 1932 in Juarez, Mexico to Andrea and Manuel Molina. He attended at San Jancinto Elementary in El Paso, Tech High School in El Paso, and received his Associates Degree in Computer Science from UTEP. As a young man, he enlisted in to the Air Force during high school when boys were being drafted. He completed his basic training in San Antonio and became naturalized in Pensacola, Florida after basic training. He was a Computer Analyst in the 50's, 60's, and 70's and set up the first computer in the Panama Canal, which was a UniVac 1050. John was a jack of all trades, his other jobs consisted of teacher, taxi driver, tailor and also a shoe shiner at the Mission Theater on Alameda in the early 50's. He met his wife, Marie, at the age of 15, he proposed on Christmas Day of 1952, and they have been married for 58 years. John retired from the Air Force in 1974 with 23 years of service. He has been retired from the Air Force in El Paso after 38 years. He was a devoted husband, and loving father to his children, Dinah Marie and Lee Adam, and also Candy for 10 years, his K9 best friend, caring grandfather to Jonathan, Leann, Amanda, and Dinah Denise, proud great grandfather to Jadan Lee and soon to have Adam Roy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his 3 brothers, Carlos, Manuel, and Raymundo, his K9 companions Linda, Sukie, Canela, Alabastro, and Guero. John had many hobbies: he loved to buy antique furniture, loved to travel, draw and write, he played many sports, loved to rebuild his 1929 and 1930 Fords, and he even donated the 1935 Army Truck to the Ft. Bliss Museum in 2007.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2012 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home, 8817 Dyer, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 10:00 am at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment will immediately follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with full Military Honors.
