Joan Carol Carrillo

Joan Carol Carrillo, 69, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 7, 2014. Joan was born in Tonasket, Washington on November 18, 1945 to Richard and Caroline Derickson. Joan was raised and lived in Westbank, British Columbia, Canada and was a member of the Westbank First Nation Indian Reserve. Joan graduated from George Pringle High School. Soon after graduation she enlisted in the U.S. Army and served 6 ½ years. Joan received her military training at Ft. McClellan, Alabama. Later she was stationed in Orleans, France where she met her husband, Joe Carrillo Jr. The couple was married in Worms, Germany, April 1967.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joe Carrillo Jr., daughter Julia Perez and grandchildren, Tyler Perez and Kaitlyn Perez, daughter Jessica Prestwood and her husband Danny, Sister Phyllis Sundstrom and husband Larry, Brothers, Raymond Derickson and wife Carol, Harold Derickson, and Steve Derickson as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm with Rosary/Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Martin East. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 12:45 pm at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Interment at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
