JESUS MANUEL TORRES IV (JT) was born June 3, 1992 in El Paso, Tx. He died on November 3, 2024 in Jarrell, Tx, from a motorcycle accident, at the age of 32. He is survived by his father, Jesus M. Torres III, mother Celia M. Torres, and sister, Mary J. Torres and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was a Roman Catholic.
He graduated from Mountain View High School in El Paso, Tx, in 2010, earning a CompTIA Network + Certification and a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional IT Technician Certification. He attended McMurry University for one year, University of Texas at El Paso for one year, and graduated from Texas State University in 2024 attaining a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (Cum Laude). He was continuing his education for a degree in Sociology at Texas State University.
Jesus joined the Navy from 2014 to 2019, serving on the Nimitz class supercarrier John C. Stennis (CVN 74). His rate was OS2 (Operations Specialist) making him a Petty Officer Second Class (E-5). His primary duties were with the W 18A ASW/SUW Tactical Air Controller (ASTAC), 706B Global Command /Control System-Maritime (GCCS-M) 4X (Legacy 4.0x/4.1X Force Level) Operator. Even though he was basically a radar operator, he was an air traffic controller, with his own helicopter, he participated in maneuvers via his radar status, he was the bootleg IT guy that was called when IT needed a work around, and he was the El Paso stereotype through and through. He received many letters of appreciation, awards, and even a coin from challenging a rear admiral.
Jesus enjoyed being an usher at chapel #2, Ft Bliss, TX, when he was younger and whenever he was in town. He was always stopping to help someone in need. Whether on the highway or in a parking lot. Yes, he was one of those guys. Always looking out for others.
Jesus was a third-degree Knight of Columbus and a member of the American Legion Post 593 in Converse, Tx. He enjoyed his freedom and his escapisms through gaming, anime, technical books, music, and fiction.
Visitation for Jesus will be held Monday, November 18, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Rosary at 6:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Restlawn Funeral Home, 8817 Dyer, El Paso, TX 79904. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 12:45 PM at St. Michael Chapel #2 1542 Sheridan Rd. Fort Bliss, TX 79906. Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow at 2:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, TX 79906.
