Jesus “Chuy” D. Marquez, age 77, of El Paso left this earth and entered eternal life to be with his heavenly Father, Monday, February 22, 2021. Chuy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother son and friend.
Soon after graduating from Tornillo High school, Chuy enlisted in the Army, where he proudly served as a cook, a passion he maintained throughout his life. Chuy loved spending time in the kitchen cooking delicious meals for his family and friends. He never let anyone pass through his doors without feeding them. He will be remembered for his delicious tacos, enchiladas and savory salsas.
After returning from the Army he met the love of his life, Isela, while attending a wedding. Desperate to meet her, he followed her into the ladies’ room to ask for her number. They remained happily married for 52 years.
His passion for art and architecture, was a driving force in his chosen field of construction. He was passionate about his work as a superintendent for George Thomas Homes, Classic American Homes and later established his own company, Rio Grande Homes.
Chuy was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed nothing better than going camping and spending time fishing. He found joy in gardening with a recent love of growing pistachio trees. He was very caring, generous and selfless, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife Isela Marquez, daughters Drina Hernandez and Glenda Marquez, son-in-law Alex Hernandez, grandchildren Jake Hernandez and Kayla Hernandez. He is also survived by his siblings: Lydia “Coky” Velasco, Irene Calderon, Carlos Calderon and Rose Maese along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Through our faith, we are comforted in knowing he is with our heavenly Father. He will always be cherished as a great husband, father, grandfather, sibling, and friend who will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
