He was born in 1947 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to John E. and Lois C. Moore. A little over a year later they gave him a sister, Marcia.
After several moves including El Paso where he started the first grade, the family settled in Las Cruces NM. Jeff graduated from Las Cruces High School then attended New Mexico State University for two years. He left the Southwest to study drama and performing arts and graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle in 1969.
While in high school and college, he began doing what he loved to do, playing his guitar and singing. Though he held numerous other jobs throughout his music career, he was able to travel through many states, including Alaska, playing first with a partner and then as a single act, at many different and varied clubs and hotel venues. During this period, he also enjoyed running in several half-marathons in some of those places.
In 1983, he grew tired of being “on the road” and settled down in El Paso where he joined friends Denis Rochford and Jim Medford in the live comedy showband Springfire. This allowed him to use all his talents as a guitarist, a singer and even as a comedian, along with several years in restaurant management at Doc’s Barbecue then later at Great American Steakburger. He loved his nearly 30 years performing at local clubs and at special events along with Springfire and later as a single act. Springfire released two albums in the late 80’s and early 90’s which featured parts of their live show. In 2005, Jeff was excited and proud to release his own solo album called Music Box Heroes.
On September 28, 1997, he married Beth and they combined their beloved “cat families”, totaling seven, and embarked on a new journey that took them through the next twenty years . Almost a dozen cruises, a European bus tour and other trips, took them to many wonderful places they enjoyed discovering together.
He is survived by his wife Beth Cross Moore, his sister Marcia Reisch and husband Franz , nephew Scott Adams, plus several cousins, stepsons Ken Cross and his wife Sheila, Kevin Cross, plus six step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson. He is predeceased by his parents John E. Moore and Lois C. Moore.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 N. Zaragoza Rd in East El Paso.
