on Monday, April 15, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was the fifth child of Santiago and
Carmen Aguirre, preceded in birth by his sisters Laura, Lydia, and Sylvia, and followed by his
brother Jerry and sister Mahrla.
Jaime grew up in El Paso, Texas, attended Sageland Elementary School, and graduated from
Bel Air High School in 1977. It was during this time that Jaime developed a love for science,
math, classical piano music, and martial arts. He continued his education at the University of
Texas at El Paso (UTEP), graduating in 1981 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He
obtained a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1983. Following graduation,
Jaime spent one year towards a PhD in mechanical engineering at Oklahoma State University.
Jaime went on to have a fulfilling career at El Paso Natural Gas Company, El Paso Housing
Authority, and the City of El Paso as the city Mechanical Engineer. As an avid practitioner of the
martial arts, Jaime attained a brown belt in karate. As an accomplished classical guitarist, Jaime
also studied flamenco guitar and went on to manage his own guitar studio of students. Jaime
was a follower of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a serious student of the Bible and
served as the spiritual center to family and friends. He married his wife Sylvia Fuentes on
October 17, 1995. Jaime and Sylvia enjoyed 29 years of life together in a wonderful and loving
marriage.
Jaime is survived by his wife, Sylvia F. Aguirre; mother, Carmen S. Aguirre; sisters Laura Hinojo,
Lydia Boureslan, Sylvia A. Fernandez (Peter), Mahrla Manning (Robert); and brother, Gerardo
“Jerry” Aguirre (Heather). He was preceded in death by his father, Santiago Aguirre. Jaime’s last
wish was to let his family and friends know that he loved them. Jaime’s family and friends will
miss him greatly.
