I was taught by Jacks father to cut meat. 
I was blessed to be in proximity to this family. 
I hold my memories with Morgan and my time at 8041 Mesa close to my heart.

Dear Powell family,

My heart is truly saddened by your loss. Jack always greeted me and mine with a smile, a fun story, and definitely excellent service. 
The years of Crossroads Big Eight, brings buckets of happy memories. We were always part of the family.  To Gary and Janet, please know that your DAD AND MOM were loved and respected by so many of us.  Their smiles of friendship will be forever in my heart. Thank you for sharing them.

Jack Powell was a real blessing to our family.   From the time that we moved to El Paso from Roswell - my Dad and Jack were the best of friends.  Lots of good memories of Jack.   A great sense of humor.  A sense of duty/loyalty.  And a great work ethic.   As a teenager - I remember rounds of golf.  Listening to great stories around the table after grilling a good steak.  Jack taught me to center a football.     Jack was a personal reference for my first job.  I watched Jack in his role of a good father and a good husband.  He was a good adult role model that I was able to watch in the role of a good son.   Dad died over 30 years ago.  I can still see Jack rubbing my Dads back where his cancer had settled.  And of course he was thoughtful and kind through the funeral.  He was a good friend.   My favorite story passed down - was another toupee story.  He got his new toupee - and my Dad told my Mom it was his younger cousin.  And she believed him.    Jack Powell will be missed

We are so sad to hear of Jack's passing and are keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. There are not enough words to describe our love for the Powell's and the love you have shown our family. Even though we all moved away from El Paso, the fond memories from the many parties and golf at the Anthony Country Club will always remain in our hearts. My first job was at Big 8 with Mr. Powell. He was an amazing boss. Always taking the time to talk and mentor all of us individually. He taught me to find my voice.  I will always remember our conversations. 

The Powell family made grocery shopping a family affair. I was always excited to go to Big 8 with my mom because not only were we getting yummy food but we got to see Jack, Gary and everyone. Much love to your family from the Driscoll family.

I am very saddened for the loss of a wonderful man, Mr. Jack Powell. He was my very first boss at the age of 16. He had such a kind heart and would do anything for you. Rest in Paradise

Powell’s Big 8 at the crossroads was my very first job. I was 15 years old.  I was a carry out (I believe the first girl carry out ever).  I worked there all through high school.  I worked my way up to the deli and then to cashier.  It was a family ran business and the Powell’s treated you like family. I will be forever grateful for the work ethic that was instilled.  My deepest condolences to the family.

Jack and Betty were faithful members of the Agape Sunday School Class for many years.  I loved them both dearly.  I will miss knowing that Jack is a phone call away.  Rest in peace, Dear Jack.
