Ismael "Gus" Guzman, age 86 passed away Friday, August 3, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Soto Guzman, children Arturo Guzman (Gloria), Graciela Fajardo (Frank), Elizabeth Drouillard (Robert), Steve Guzman, and Rosanne Enriquez (Javier). Infant son, Mike, preceded him in death. Grandpa will be remembered by 11 grandchildren, Mark Guzman, Salina Guzman, Zachary Lopez, Justine Lopez, Tammy Russell, Tim Drouillard, Iliana Frintner, Abbygale Cain, Alyssa Guzman, Kelli Reed, and Stephen Enriquez, and 12 great-grandchildren, and brother, Fernando.
“Gus” was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. He taught his family to love God, work hard and honor their country. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 31 years of service and served in the U.S. Air Force, the Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve. Gus was a long time resident of El Paso.
Viewing will take place on Tuesday, August 7 from 5-9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home on N. Carolina Drive, with Rosary at 7p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 8 at Our Lady of the Valley Church on Winchester Street. Burial will follow at Ft. Bliss Cemetery with military honors.
