Heaven gained a beautiful angel, Irma Grace Montes-Gomez, who passed from this world on Saturday, April 29, 2023. She came to us on April 6th 1958. We were not ready for a beautiful child with a gorgeous mane of red hair. She was known for her vibrant personality, musical laugh and beautiful wide smile. She studied at the University of Texas at El Paso, earning her bachelor's degree in Nursing. She also earned a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in Orthopedic nursing with honors. Caregiving was such a large part of who she was. Irma found her calling as a nurse working for Providence Hospital, Del Sol Medical Center and Las Palmas Medical Center and retired from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She held the position of Senior Director of Quality Improvements/Occupational Health. Her work ethic was so great she has been irreplaceable.
Irma was a woman of many talents such as singing and drawing, but the true joy of her life was spending time with her family. She was unfailingly devoted to them and being the quintessential cool Tia: having sleepovers, swimming, and crafts. She truly made her niece’s childhoods magical.
Irma is reunited in death with her beloved parents Ramon A. and Maria Concepcion Montes. She is survived by her husband, Luciano Gomez; sister, Rachel Reynoso (Victor); brothers, Raymundo Montes (Linda), Mario Montes (Maria) and Eduardo Montes (Barbara), brother-in-law, Dr. Jesus Gomez (Terry); sister-in-law, Teresa Gomez; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Our special Thanks to Dr. Jesus gomez for taking care of all her medical needs.
Visitation for Irma will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM with a vigil at 7:00PM at Funeraria del Angel Central, 3839 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79903. Funeral mass will be Friday, May 5th, at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 4800 Byron St. El Paso, TX 79930.
