Irene Elizabeth (Conyers) Hart, 97 was born in St. Jo, Texas on June 15th 1919 to William and Elizabeth (Harrison) Conyers. She entered Heaven on April 15th, 2017. Irene was employed by The Popular from 1947 to 1955 and retired from Mountain Bell in 1980 after 24 years. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, traveling, scrapbooking, her poodles and pugs. She and her husband Kenneth resided in Horizon City until 1984 and then began retirement living in Timberon, NM. Irene often said their years in Timberon were the best time of their lives. They returned to Horizon City in 1994. She was predeceased by husband Kenneth Hart, son George Smith Sr., grandson George Smith Jr., sister Viola Elkins and brothers James, John, Harold and Howard Conyers. Survived by sister Margaret Hehemann, daughter in law, Nora Smith who selflessly loved and cared for Irene, granddaughter Christy Farris (Randy), former daughter in law Margery Smith who helped care for Irene during her last months, and stepchildren, Dennis, Jonnie, Jean and Jan. Also survived by her nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday, April 20th at 10:00 am with a Services at 11:00 am at Martin Funeral Home East. Burial will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
