Indar "Nacho" Singh passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018. He was at home next to a window overlooking his beloved farm which he worked for 74 years and the majestic Mount Franklin he called his own. He was surrounded by family.
Indar was born August 11, 1927 to Das Ram Singh and Francisca Medina. He attended Cathedral High School.
As a partner of the White Gin Association in 1941, his father played a key role in constructing a gin to process Alcalá cotton in the upper valley west of El Paso. Following his father's untimely death, he took charge of the farm and kept it going successfully.
During his 20's, he developed a love for baseball and played on and sponsored several teams. In 1954, he met, fell in love with and married Hermerlinda Madrid. Together, they had a daughter, and two sons. Sadly, he became a widower early on and quickly assumed the role of both father and mother for his children. In 1976, Indar once again fell in love and married Marie Eloise. With this union there was a blending of two families.
Indar enjoyed being an active member of the community. Over the years he was on the Canutillo Independent School board. But the role he took the most pride in was as a Board member of the El Paso Water Improvement District for 39 years. He looked forward to those meetings and the comraderie.
He enjoyed life and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Das Ram and Francisca Singh, brothers, Salvador, Antonio, and Vicente; first wife, Hermerlinda, sons, Indar, Jr., Larry Ram Singh.
