On Tuesday, March 14, 2017, Imelda O. Garcia transitioned from her earthly life to life eternal. Affectionately known as Chata and Mickey, she was, among other things, a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Meliton and Enriqueta Ortega and her brothers Roberto, Fidel, David and Rogelio
Her youngest siblings, Rita and Armando, remain to mourn her loss. She is survived by her devoted family, Roberto, her husband of 70 years, 11 of her 12 children: Inez Mota (Rosalio Jr.), Roberto Jr., Andrés, Ernestina Vasquez (Ricardo), Cecilia, Felipe, Edmundo, Nieves, Monica, Alfredo, and Sofia. Her son, Dimas, blissfully awaited her arrival. She will be lovingly missed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as all those who personally knew her kindness and compassion. Imelda was a longtime, faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley Church and a member of the Altar Society. She was also a past member of the St. Jude Auxiliary and the Blue Army. Her life will be celebrated with a vigil and rosary on Sunday, March 19, 2017at 5:00 p.m., at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 8600 Winchester. Mass will be Monday, March 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, followed by burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Thank you to all who visited, cared for and prayed for her.
