Herbert Phillip Beard, 76, of Horizon City, Texas, passed away May 10, 2024 in his home. He was born April 10, 1948 in El Paso, TX. He graduated from Bel Air High School 1967, and went straight into the workforce.Herbert worked as a diesel mechanic for nearly 40 years, however he ended his career as an automotive teacher at Clint High School which he retired after 15 years of service in 2016. Herbert’s passions in life were family, motors, and four letter words that could be heard after the clanking of a tool across the shop. Herbert’s love for family was unmatched as his greatest joy was hanging out with his old lady, or “the kids” on a weekend in the mountains. Often found tinkering on his truck in the garage, his passion for the automotive industry can be seen through his many years teaching the next generation of automotive engineers. Herbert is survived by his wife Arleen Beard, son Philip Beard and wife Lisa Beard, daughters Carolyn Beard, and Erica Beard and wife Ashley Wood, brother Anthony Andrew Beard and wife Ramona Beard, sister Veronica Beard, grandchildren Dr. Joslyn Beard, Jonathan Beard, and Aubrey Rita Chavez-Tripp, and many nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Andrew Beard, Philip Beard, Ashley Wood and Jonathan Beard.
