Hector Eduardo Loya, larger-than-life cowboy, father, husband, son, brother, and friend left us too soon on December 4, 2023. He was 61 years old. He grew up in El Paso, Texas attending Riverside High School where he played football for the Rangers, leading to a life-long love for the game, and the Dallas Cowboys. He played football for Sul Ross University for a year before he transferred to El Paso Community College where he followed in his father’s footsteps in construction and studied construction management. As owner and President of Armor Construction, Hector was an astute businessman and a beloved community member and friend to many in the El Paso area. Upholding the “old west traditions of the southwest” he was a proud member of the El Paso County Sheriff Posse, where he was Past-President and proudly rode with the Posse on the annual Sun Bowl Thanksgiving Day Parade. He loved riding horses and going on cattle runs with his fellow posse brothers, his sons, and anyone who showed interest in exploring the land on horseback. His love for the outdoors extended to a passion for big game hunting all over the world. Hector and his wife Flora enjoyed traveling and going on long motorcycle rides. Together they lived life to the fullest and enjoyed hosting social events which often involved delicious Texas BBQ. He was most proud of his sons’ accomplishments and their successes as an engineer and a lawyer. Hector was big-hearted and generous and will be deeply missed by a wide circle of friends and family.
He is survived by his sons Phillip E. Loya (wife Shana M. Williamson Loya) and Joshua M. Loya; wife Flora Fierro; father Hector Flores Loya; brothers Alvaro Loya (wife Yvonne Loya), Cesar Loya (wife Monica Loya); Sister Brenda Loya (husband Noah Fischer); and his nieces and nephews who looked up him and knew him as their “Tio Lalo:” Jacob F.
