Guadalupita is survived by the father of her children, Leandro Larrañaga, sons Marcos Larrañaga (and spouse Arlene) and Michael Larrañaga (Patricia) and her daughter Julie Larrañaga (Amos); sisters Ruperta Salazar, Adelina Viramontes, Cruzita Lucero; and brothers Jose Carlos Ortiz and Ricardo Valentín Ortiz; stepdaughters Annabell Coppedge (Gary), Bernice Yandell (Dan) and Louella Chavez (Gabriel); and stepson André Larrañaga (Colleen).
Guadalupita was preceded in death by her parents Jose Hilario and Juanita Ruby Ortiz (Romero), baby brother Juanito, brother-in law Alfonso Lucero, and nephews Steve Lucero and Carlos Antonio Viramontes.
Pita was a high school and middle school teacher and taught at the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind in Colorado Springs; Pecos, Pojoaque Valley, Encino, Moriarty, and Chama Public Schools in New Mexico; and Morton and El Paso Public Schools in Texas. After retiring from teaching, she served in the United Staters Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic.
Guadalupita also leaves 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild (Azariah) to cherish her memory. Special thanks to her grandchild, Patch Angus, who cared for her during the last years of her life.
A visitation for Guadalupita will be held Friday, June 21, 2024, from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 North Resler Drive, El Paso, TX 79912, with a prayer service at 3:00 PM.
