Guadalupe “Lupe” Williams, 89, born on March 2, 1934, peacefully passed away on February 18, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. She was the daughter of Sabas Hernandez and Herminia Gonzales and is preceded in death by her beloved husband Lewis Edward Williams Sr. “Willie”, and her dear brother Richard Hernandez. She is survived by her children Lewis Edward Williams Jr., Patricia A. Byers (Walter Byers Jr.) and Wanda Williams-Lugo, and her brother Alfredo Hernandez. Guadalupe also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Jason E. Williams (Amanda Mason), Walter S. Byers III, and Kennedy King (John King), as well as great-children Sloan Martin Williams, Samantha Williams, and Connor King.
Guadalupe grew up in San Antonio, Texas. She had many fond memories of spending time with her brothers and cousins growing up. She met her husband Lewis while he was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Their connection blossomed into a once-in-a-lifetime love story and married in 1958. They shared a passion for exploring the world and together they loved to spend their time in the company of friends, and loved to dance the night away.
Guadalupe was a woman of extraordinary selflessness and a devout lover of God. Her life was an example of compassion and service to others. She was a woman of many talents and passions. She found joy in gardening, expressing her creativity through sewing and crafting, and had a special fondness of watching endless reruns of Perry Mason. Her life was a testament to the simple pleasures that bring happiness and fulfillment. Her kindness touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will always live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
In her passing, Guadalupe is finally reunited with her beloved husband, Lewis Edward Williams Sr. Their love story that began on earth will continue eternally in heaven.
A memorial service to celebrate Guadalupe’s life will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home on February 28, 2024, from 4-8pm with a rosary at 6PM. The burial services will take place on February 29, 2024, at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude’s in Guadalupe’s honor.
