She is proceeded in death by her parents, Jose Guillermo Varela Sr. and Guadalupe Caro Varela; her brothers: Mariano Julio Varela and Jose Guillermo Varela Jr.; and her sisters Aurelia Varela and Anita Saenz.
Guadalupe is survived by her younger brother Oscar Varela and nephews, Andy Saenz Jr, Jose Saenz and Michael Saenz (Zulema Saenz), Oscar Varela III (Summer Varela), Grayson Varela, and nieces Michelle Ramirez (Benny Ramirez), and Olivia Varela.
She is a graduate from El Paso High School. She attended Texas Western College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and went on to receive a Master of Education degree from The University of Texas at El Paso. Guadalupe became a teacher and then had a successful career as the principal at Hawkins Elementary School for more than 20 years. After her retirement, she accepted a teaching position at Father Yermo High School and then became the principal at Blessed Sacrament School for a short period of time.
No one who met Guadalupe Varela forgot her passion and dedication for her students she taught. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her. May you rest in eternal peace, Pupi. The family wishes to thank Lorraine Chavez and her wife Claudia Chavez from Homage Foster home and caretaker Irma Zamaron for their compassion and kindness.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Funeraria Del Angel Central (previously known as Martin Funeral Home) with a 6:00 p.m. rosary. Graveside mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery at 4301 Alameda Ave, El Paso 79905. Services entrusted to Funeraria Del Angel at 3839 Montana Ave., El Paso, Texas 79903.
