Grace Elizabeth “Betty” Boruff passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022, surrounded by family. Life began for Betty 92 years ago in Terra Haute, Indiana when her parents Walter and Dorothy Liggett welcomed Betty’s arrival to the family, where Betty grew up with two siblings, Robert Liggett and Peggy Liggett Jaeger.
Betty met Gayle M. Boruff in high school and married after graduation in 1945. They then moved from Terra Haute and made their home in El Paso, Texas where Betty’s family continued to grow. Betty is survived by her two daughters, Lola Ficca and Gayla Angelone; six grandchildren: Elizabeth, Lynda, Walter, Penny, Thomas, and Christine; nine grandchildren; Justin, Ryan D., Sarah, Connor, Sophia, Dominic, Ryan F., Phoenix, Elijah; two great-great-grandchildren: Aubrey and Jackson; nieces Lynn, Stephanie, and Michelle; nephews Pete, Thomas, and Jack in addition to many more family members. Betty is predeceased by her husband Gayle and grandsons, James Ficca, and Brad Liggett.
Betty always had a very full dance card and lived a life of service to her community. She retired from employment at the Directorate of Civilian Personnel at White Sands Missile Range but continued her service to the community. Betty actively participated in the planning of the yearly Northeast Easter Parade; she was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shriners, and she also sang with the El Minya Chanters. Betty was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, which is dedicated to caring for those in need, and she belonged to numerous other organizations including participating in a weekly Breakfast Club. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Betty requested a private graveside ceremony for her family, but she also wanted to have a later celebration of her life with both family and friends, which will be announced at a later date.
