She was born in El Paso, Texas in 1948 to Jose P. Mora and Juanita M. Mora. One of nine siblings, the family grew up in Smeltertown and eventually moved to Hueco Street. She graduated from Austin High School and met her husband, Melino Navariz, who was in the military, allowing her to travel the world. She worked for civil service at Ft. Bliss and eventually for the United States Postal Service where she retired in 2003. She was a devout catholic and loved her church community.
Gloria loved casino games, making several trips with her siblings to Wendover, Nevada. She was an amazing cook and baker, passing her knowledge and love of food to her children and all who wanted to learn.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Carlitos Mora (baby brother) Ruben Mora (brother), Frances Montelongo (sister) and Emma Mora (sister-in-law) who will never forget the love she brought to their lives.
She is survived by her husband, Melino C. Navariz, and siblings Josefina Enriquez (Louis), Dolores (Lola) Ortega, Joe Mora, Mary Lou Romero (Robert), and Tony Mora.
She was a devoted mother and is also survived by her three sons Mel Joseph (Jessica), Paul Anthony (Danielle), Christopher John (Lisa), and daughter Stephanie Jane. Most of all, she loved her pride and joy: her grandchildren, Kalel Joseph, Zachary Joseph, Abrielle Cruz, Zekiel Antonio, and Johnna Marie.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, April 25th at Funeraria del Angel, 3839 Montana at 7:00 pm with viewing service from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. Mass will be held on Friday, April 26th at Little Flower Catholic Church, 171 Polo Inn Rd at 11:00 am with interment following at Restlawn Cemetery, 4848 Alps Drive, Guadalupe Garden.
