Gloria Lara, 79 lost her battle with cancer on Saturday July 4, 2015 in El Paso, Texas. She was born on January 31, 1936 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Donaciano and Josefina Chavez. The oldest of three children, she attended an all-girls school where she developed a love for reading. She married Ramon Lara in 1958 and had three children. Gloria was a devout catholic and a member of Our Lady of Assumption Parish. She had tremendous faith in Our Lord, the Blessed Mother and San Juan Diego.
Gloria is survived by her son Juan Lara, daughters Patricia Lara and her partner Thomas Castaneda , daughter Laura Anguiano and husband Paul Anguiano Jr., grandchildren Gloria Ayala, Valerie and Allyson Anguiano and Johnny Ray and Jasmine Lara, sister Vespertina Chavez, nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Lara, her parents and her brother.
Visitation will be Thursday July 9, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Kaster-Maxon & Futrell Funeral Home 8817 Dyer. Funeral mass will be held on Friday July 10, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Parish, 4805 Byron El Paso, Texas. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
