Glenn Arlyn Zimmerman, 67, was not born in El Paso, but made his home here for 46 years. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, diligent former El Paso police officer, giving teacher, and devoted social worker at Beaumont Hospital, a job for which he never tired and which never ceased to get him out of bed, and always recognizable in his felt hat and boots and love for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and he will be missed beyond what these words can convey.
He is survived by his wife, Janice of 40 years, stepmother Joan, brothers, Walter and George, sisters, Teresa Jean, Michelle Bogovich, and Barbra, daughters Amanda Jo and Molly Garibay, foster sons Eric Owens and Robert Boatwright, grandchildren Taylor Bleu Gaytan, and Levi and Kyira Owens, and Dallas and Kari Boatwright, numerous nieces and nephews, and the countless people whom he helped over the decades of his life. He was preceded in death by his father Walter W. Sr., mother Constance Cora Hebbard, and brother Lee.
He lived his life by no one else’s rules.
