Georgina A. Chavez

On January 8, 2016 the Lord called to rest Georgina A. Chávez, she was 70 years old. She was born in Chihuahua City on September 21, 1945 to Nasim and Esther Ayub and moved to the United States when she married her beloved husband Alfonso. She was an avid political advocate on both sides of the border, a defender of the underprivileged and a generous kindhearted woman with many people. Georgina also possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Most of all she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be remembered and missed by many people. Georgina is survived by her husband of 44 years Dr. Alfonso Chavez, son Alfonso E., daughters Esther G. (Hugo Sandoval) and Alejandra (Ivan Torres), sisters Laura A. de Moreno and Elizabeth Ayub, 10 beautiful grandchildren and many wonderful close friends. Visitation will be held Sunday January 10, 2016 from 5-9 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m at Martin Funeral Home West Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Monday, January, 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Memory Gardens of the Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Georgina's name to the Amigo Kidney Foundation, 1250 E. Cliff Ste 1A, El Paso, TX 79902.
